जनक मिथिला के महाराज थे और भगवान के अनन्य भक्त थे। वे युद्ध में ईमानदारी और सही पक्ष में लड़ने का सन्देश देकर अपना कर्तव्य निभाते थे। इस प्रकार, अपने कर्तव्य का सही पालन करने से अध्यात्मिक उन्नति पर कोई दुष्प्रभाव नहीं पड़ता।

King Janaka was a great devotee of lord but being the king Mithila, he had to teach how to fight righteously in battle. Performance of prescribed work in the appropriate manner, has no ill-effect upom the spiritual progress.
